Netflix released a new trailer for season 2 of Squid Gamewhich promises even more games and deaths.
Since the mega-box of Squid Game that no one saw coming, Netflix is doubling down on (diabolical) ideas to maintain its new brand and not let the dust fall: pop-up stores, escape games, YouTube remixes and even a reality TV show (Squid Game: The challenge). A live-action American remake Squid Game : Americadirected by David Fincher and written by Dennis Kelly (Utopia) was started, as well as a video game, all this even before season 2.
After three years of waiting, the sequel to the South Korean phenomenon created by Hwang Dong-hyuk is however approaching the finish line. Netflix is also working hard in terms of promotion, just in France where a One, Two, Three Sun giant will soon be organized on the Champs-Élysées… But the streaming giant is also doing more traditional promotion, with teasers and therefore a trailer in which Gi-hun restarts a gamebut above all wants to change the rules of the game.
SQUID GAME OVER
It was a promise made half-heartedly at the end of the first season: Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), the only survivor of the previous games, found the ddakji player (and recruiter of participants) by chance and decided not board his plane, suggesting that he would pursue the organization to permanently stop the game.
And it’s the entire program for this season 2 which will also see a new gallery of characters killing each otherwith among others a psychopath on duty and a mother-son duo onto whom we already project our most sadistic ideas.
Gi-hun will a priori go through the same stages (that of the photo, where he no longer looks stupid), except that this time, in theory, he will have a step ahead of the organizers. Unfortunately for him, if season 1 and human nature are to be believed, the other participants should not let him overthrow the system which offers them a meager “chance” to escape.
The giant doll, which has become one of the emblems of the series, will be back, with other games on the menu, notably a giant turnstile and what looks like a huge tic-tac-toe (the game, obviously). As for the casting, among all the new recruits, we will find Wi Ha-joon in the shoes of the police officer who is looking for his brother and therefore survived his fall, but also Lee Byung-hun who will put on his mask of big boss of the games. This season 2 of Squid Game will land on Netflix on December 26.
