Marilyn Manson gives up suing Evan Rachel Wood, and has agreed to reimburse the actress’s lawyer fees, which amounted to $327,000.

Marilyn Manson has reached an agreement with Evan Rachel Wood. The singer filed a defamation complaint in 2022 against the actress, who accused him of rape in a documentary. He has decided to drop his charges, announces Variety.

Marilyn Manson has agreed to reimburse $327,000 (nearly $311,000) of the actress’ legal fees, according to documents obtained by the specialist magazine.

“His attempt to silence and intimidate Ms. Wood failed,” the actress’s lawyers said in a statement, adding that the singer had filed the complaint “in an attempt to revive his declining career.”

“As the court has shown, (Marilyn Manson’s) claims do not hold up. Her decision to drop her complaint and reimburse Ms. Wood for her lawyers’ fees (…) confirms this,” add the attorneys for Evan Rachel Wood.

Accused by several women

Marilyn Manson accused Evan Rachel Wood in March 2022 of engaging in an operation of conspiracy, fraud and defamation to destroy his career.

The singer then accused the actress and artist Illma Gore of having posed as an FBI agent to encourage “potential accusers to come forward”.

Evan Rachel Wood had accused Marilyn Manson in a documentary of having raped her in 2007 on the filming of the music video for “Heart-Shaped Glasses”. The singer was then accused by several women of rape and other assaults.

His record label Loma Vista Recordings and his talent agency CAA had both severed relations with the singer following the accusations against him.
