The creative team, which includes the direction, the acrobatic design, musical direction, scenography and costumes, will only be known next March.
The Cirque will be spoiled for choice with the repertoire of some 150 songs deployed on a dozen albums by Daniel Bélanger over the last 32 years.
From his debut in 1992 with Insomniacs have fun until his recent Mercury in May, released in 2022, including the essentials Dream better (2001), Hardware failure (2007) et City chic (2013), which leaned towards rockabilly, or even Travelling (2020), a brilliant instrumental album, the singer-songwriter varied musical styles while telling stories in a very colorful and poetic way.
I am absolutely touched and flattered to receive this honor from Cirque du Soleil. It is a real pleasure to be part of this unique moment.

The creative director for Cirque du Soleil, Julie Castonguay, will supervise the artistic process, we learned.
We will see next spring who will pilot this musical and acrobatic tribute, after the tandem formed by director Jean-Guy Legault and musical director Jean-Phi Goncalves, who carried out the first five editions – in homage to Beau Dommage, to Robert Charlebois, to Luc Plamondon, to Colocs and to Cowboys Fringants.
At the time of the creation of Happy ordealhat tip to the Cowboys, Jean-Guy Legault had confided to The Press : “At some point, I believe a concept like this has a shelf life. We can stay in music without following this concept of homage to a group or an artist. » The director still returned to action last year for the tribute to Rock et Belles Oreilles.
“We look forward to celebrating Daniel Bélanger, an iconic singer-songwriter, a true icon of Quebec culture who we will be happy to rediscover through the creative lens of Cirque du Soleil,” wrote the president and head of the management of the Cirque, Stéphane Lefebvre, in a press release.
