Diplo sued for illegal distribution of explicit content

Diplo has been sued for illegally distributing explicit content since an anonymous plaintiff alleged in a lawsuit filed June 27 in California that the music producer distributed her intimate images and videos.

The woman, referred to in the filing as Jane Doe, claims to have had an intimate relationship with Diplo – whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz – from June 2016 to October 2023.

A month later, she learned that the 45-year-old musician had shared images and videos of their sexual encounter without her consent.

“Tragically, this is not the first time that the defendant has shamed and violated a woman’s privacy by distributing intimate images without her consent,” her legal representative, Helene Weiss, said in a statement for Variety.

“Diplo’s alleged illicit behavior illustrates the harm he has caused Jane Doe and other young women like her. Our client deserves justice, and she hopes this trial will serve as a catalyst to once and for all end the defendant’s repeated victimization of women.”

Another lawyer, Micha Liberty, described filing the complaint as an act of “bravery.”

«No revenge porn “is a heinous violation of privacy and trust that inflicts profound emotional trauma on victims like Jane Doe,” she told Variety. “Jane Doe’s courage in speaking out against this injustice is a powerful reminder of the need for systemic change to support and protect all survivors of such violations.”
