About the author

Born to a Moroccan father and a French mother, Myriam Jebbor knew how to cultivate a deep passion for literature from a very young age. Having completed her schooling at the French mission in Rabat, she joined the Association of Moroccan Writers very early on. As a teenager, she devoted her Saturday afternoons to reading and writing workshops, guided by more experienced authors. At the age of 18, she won the Prix Grand Atlas for her short story “La femme, la fillette, la poupée”, an award presented by Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio at the French Embassy. This defining moment was reinforced by the encouragement of Edmonde Charles-Roux, who advised her to “never stop writing”. Shortly after, her short story “Le voyageur” was published by Editions Le Fennec. After obtaining her literary baccalaureate, Myriam continued her studies in interior design while continuing to write. Her first novel, “Dans le cœur des hommes”, published in 2000 by Editions Traces du Présent, was presented at the Paris and Montpellier Book Fairs. Back in Morocco after her studies, Myriam worked briefly in interior design before devoting herself entirely to writing. In 2003, she took her first steps in the French-speaking women’s press by joining the magazine “Femmes du Maroc”. This magazine, both glamorous and militant, allowed her to express her commitment to women’s rights. Among other things, she created the “Portrait” column, where she retraced in a subjective and personal way her meetings with artistic, cultural and political figures of Morocco. In 2008, Myriam was appointed editor-in-chief, then publishing director of “Femmes du Maroc”. In parallel with her journalistic activities, she published two novels, “Il était là” and “Des histoires de grands”, thus asserting her place in the literary world. In 2011, she was a member of the jury of the Prix Grand Atlas, strengthening her involvement in the recognition and promotion of literature. In 2015, Myriam moved to Paris for three years. Her work “Le parfum d’Emilie” was published in a collection of short stories in Neuilly-sur-Seine after being submitted to the “Plumes de Neuilly” competition. At the same time, Myriam also taught creative writing at the Mohammed VI University in Rabat and Ben Guérir.

With the recent publication of her latest novel, “La betrayal”, by Editions Le Fennec, Myriam Jebbor continues to inspire us with her rich and diverse journey, combining social commitment, passion for writing and the desire to transmit. His works, both journalistic and literary, reflect a vision of the world imbued with sensitivity and depth.
