Casablanca – The Marsam Art gallery in Casablanca is hosting from Thursday November 21 to January 4, the exhibition ”L’atelier musée de l’estampe-Empreintes d’artistes”, co-organized with the Chraïbi Abderrazik Foundation, in partnership with the AL MADA Foundation.
This exhibition presents a collection of unique works created by around twenty artists during the project which took place at the Villas des Arts in Casablanca from February 15 to May 11 and in Rabat from May 21 to July 30. A project which offered a space of freedom and artistic exploration allowing artists to deepen their mastery of printmaking techniques, underlines a press release from the Gallery.
For several weeks, in Casablanca then in Rabat, the artists experimented with various approaches, merging traditional techniques and contemporary innovations. Each print on display reflects an intimate dialogue between the artist and the medium, giving rise to works that are both personal and universal.
The Print Museum Workshop is an educational, artistic and cultural project which also aimed to introduce a group of students from the Casablanca School of Fine Arts through linocut print master classes .
Visitors to the exhibition will thus have the opportunity to discover works where the precision of gesture blends with the spontaneity of creation. Each print, whether made in lithography, contemporary engraving or art screen printing, tells a different story, but all are united by the immersive process of the ”Atelier Musée de l’Estampes” project, conducive to reflection and artistic exchange.
This exhibition is an invitation to delve into the graphic universe of artists, to explore the nuances of the prints left on paper, and to understand the richness of printmaking as a form of contemporary expression.
This rich experience was the opportunity to present to the public an exhibition of prints created over the last 50 years by the MARSAM Graphic Art Workshop, a prelude to the creation of a print museum in Casablanca by the Foundation. Chraïbi Abderrazik.
The artists participating in this exhibition include Nabil Bahya, Noureddine Belhaj, Mustapha Belkouch, Abdellah El Hariri, Noureddine FathI, Abdelkader Laâraj, Najia Mehadji, Abdelhay Mellakh, Youssef Ouahboune, Fatima Ouardighi or Chafik Zougari.
