December 15, 2020 marks a sad date in the calendar of fans of Letters, thought, ideas, cinema and television. Four years ago, Noureddine SAIL, the “MAESTRO” as his disciples loved to call him, left this world at the age of 73, leaving behind thousands of orphaned admirers, but also and above all a family. weeping.

On this occasion, “a tribute without embellishment and with a nice surprise” will be paid to him on December 15 at the CINEATLAS Rabat COLISEE, announced his wife and our colleague Nadia LARGUET, well-known and recognized journalist and producer.

At this moment, a touching and inspiring tribute seemed necessary to remember. On September 26, 2022 in Tangier, during the 22nd National Film Festival, our colleague and nevertheless friend Mohamed El Gahs, saluted the memory of the illustrious deceased, “a A cultured man, curious about everything, demanding, he loved to debate, argue, invent, create, convince and laugh at the absurdity of the world.” Here is his tribute.

Pair Mohamed EL GAHS

“Firstly an intellectual, a philosopher forging through knowledge his singular conception of life, beings and things. Perception by which he has constructed his way of being in the world, of acting, of speaking or of remaining silent. To live, in short. This is the very definition, in my opinion, of a philosopher.

The driving force behind his journey was passion. Literature, thought, ideas, and of course cinema, television. It is in these last two areas that his work will have marked the era and the minds of his contemporaries.

It was his way of confronting reality and wanting to transform it for the better. There are indelible fingerprints printed on it. A cultured man, curious about everything, demanding, he loved to debate, argue, invent, create, convince and laugh at the absurdity of the world.

He considered friendship to be a supreme value and he cultivated it with rare attention.

He loved life passionately. And uncompromisingly led the battles that his humanist commitments demanded.

Morocco loses a brilliant man who made his valuable contribution to the building in the service of the Nation. Humbly, naturally, generously. With dignity.

He was the friend of generations of Moroccans. He was my friend. We will miss him in pain and sorrow. He will be remembered with respect, tenderness and pride.

My thoughts and condolences go to his family, his wife, his children and his friends.

Rest in peace, my brother Noureddine.
