3. Paper Theater in Saint-Nazaire
In his show The white sheetCécile Briand, puppeteer artist from the Tenir Debout troupe, combines the manipulation of paper, drawing and dance, to bring out a living tableau before the children’s eyes.
Initially it was a blank sheet. Drawing, cutting, folding… Mountain and forest landscapes then appear, the waves of the ocean are agitated. A silhouette emerges, like a shadow, which becomes a character in its own right.
Playing hide and seek with her paper double, the actress Cécile Briand, who was inspired by the paper theater for this show, creates flat blue and white shapes with simple contours in a style reminiscent of the painter Matisse .
