There are roles that mark an actor for good reasons, but also, sometimes, for bad ones. Orlando Bloom regrets it: it’s not just Pirates of the Caribbean in his career.

A shot of Bloom

Playing this character was like cutting your own throat. It is this sentence that describes Orlando Bloom’s experience on the film Troy. During an interview published by Variety, the actor did not go with the back of the spoon and destroyed the film directed by Wolfgang Petersen. “Oh my God, Troy. Wow ! I think I just erased this movie from my mind” he said, before continuing: “I didn’t want to make this film. I didn’t want to play this character”.

There was Brad. There was Eric and Peter O’Toole. But how to play this character? This went completely against everything I felt in my being. Orlando Bloom

One scene particularly struck the actor when reading the script. “At one point, Paris is said to be crawling on the ground after being beaten by someone and holding his brother’s leg. ‘I said to myself: ‘I’m not going to be able to do that’‘. But his agent at the time assured him that it was this passage in particular that would make the film a success. “I completely succumbed to this sentence from my agent. I think that’s why I put it all out of my mind” he jokes.

The Circus of Troy

As Variety points out, this is not the first time that the film Troy has been singled out by one of the actors. The feature film released in 2004 and which grossed $500 million at the worldwide box office did not leave only good memories for Diane Kruger. Recently, she revealed that filming was “exhilarating” but that it was “a circus. “The sets were huge, the paparazzi traveled by helicopter, waiting for Brad Pitt. It was crazy!” lit-on. “When the film came out, the German press was very, very harsh on me. They found my father, whom I hadn’t seen since I was 13. They made up stories. It was really very hard” she explained. Fortunately, she also stressed that Brad Pitt had exemplary behavior and that he knew how to find the right words to reassure her.
