the essential
A music festival ahead of time, the Athyrium was packed on Thursday evening, to host the “School Orchestras” concert, including of course many parents.

The public was first able to applaud the performance of the 46 young CM musicians from the Genêts school, then that of the 19 CM musicians from the Pierre-Puel school, the 4 classes each performing two of the pieces learned during these years of learning, with real emotion, tinged with pride, which they shared with the public. A journey highlighted and rewarded with the presentation of the diploma for the 2023-2024 class (and a t-shirt bearing the image of the “Orchestra at school” system), by Cathy Couffin, deputy mayor in charge of school life, early childhood, childhood and youth, in the presence of CRDA officials, elected officials, teachers and lecturers.

Next year, they will join the “big” class at college and some of them will continue music, like their elders, the 31 middle school students in the music timetable class), who offered a very beautiful second part of the concert, between the choir of 6th and 5th grades accompanied by the orchestra of 4th and 3rd grades, for 5 selected pieces, including “Corsican tango”! then the full orchestra (6th to 3rd) for 4 pieces including “Another brick in the wall” by Pink-Floyd…

A few words about this device

The “Orchestra at school” system was born from the privileged partnership between the commune of Onet-le-Château, the Aveyron Conservatory of Music and Theater and National Education. Its objective is to introduce primary school students to learning an instrument and through this to develop their listening, sharing and musical creativity skills, by promoting collective practice.

These times are built in connection with the school project and are supported by the teams of the schools and the Conservatory. As for classes with flexible schedules, they offer motivated middle school students who are passionate about practicing music and theater the opportunity to (to) follow artistic instruction during their school time, while benefiting from an adapted timetable.
