So far, this is the title of the second EP by Parisian rapper Sidney. In the vein of Gringe and Orelsan, his two friends, he builds a work focused on texts and introspection to better talk about the world. Grandson of Cameroonian guitarist and composer Francis Bebey, Sidney has someone to take after.
Having come to Music late – he is 34 years old – Sidney returns to So far on what determines the construction of an artist and a man: the encounters, the soundtrack, the way in which we approach the essential stages of a career… Back vocal stage of Gringe, he decided to take the next step between 2022 and 2023, getting noticed with a first EP Vision feeds on drill and ego trip. A path that he quickly abandoned in favor of more introspective texts. Immature or Marie on the EP So far, are good examples.
We must undoubtedly see the influence of his friend and mentor Gringe with whom Sidney has worked for several years, but also perhaps the reminiscence of a powerful family genealogy. Grandson of the Cameroonian author and composer Francis Bebey, Sidney has been immersed since childhood in the poetic and musical universe of a family of artists.
He also knew how to surround himself with the rising generation of beatmakers like Tigri and Jean castel, both pure products of the Berklee College of Music in Boston in the United States. Sidney is therefore on an upward trajectory and is already promising a next EP which will be the sequel to So far. In the meantime, he is opening for Gringe concerts, currently on tour throughout France.
