PEOPLE – Laurent Weil came close to death, and is not afraid to say it. On Wednesday November 13, the “Mr. Cinema” of Canal+ was the guest of a special program dedicated to Michel Denisot on TMC, hosted by Yann Barthès and in which he discussed his serious health problems.

“Is life worth living? Yes, for having been in a coma for two weeks after my heart attack. I fought and fought to come back, to be able to express myself in front of you. So yes, we have to fight for life, to be able to take it back,” confided the 59-year-old journalist on set, who was speaking publicly on the subject for the first time.

Known for having hosted the red carpets for a long time (including that of the Film Festival for years), Laurent Weil retired from the air for two years, from July 2021. At that time, The Parisian revealed that he had been hospitalized after a “ serious health problem “. In 2023, Canal+ announced its return, during the Cabourg Romantic Film Festival.

“We are very happy to have you this evening Laurent”, Yann Barthès thanked him after his speech Wednesday evening. Laurent Weil was present alongside other figures from the PAF, such as Christophe Dechavanne and Marc-Olivier Fogiel, to celebrate not only the 80th anniversary of Michel Denisot, but also the 40th anniversary of Canal+ and the 20th anniversary of Grand Journal.

Laurent Weil’s words left no one indifferent. “ After that, we can’t pass, eh”, commented Jean-Michel Aphatie, not without humor. Before being cut off by Laurent Weil: “bah you’re out of control now. »
