The Carré SAM stage was transformed into a real musical laboratory for two emerging groups from the region. Under the direction of Stef Buriez, emblematic figure of the group Loudblast, and connoisseur of the rock scene, the masterclass “The Show Must Go On!” allowed Dirty Jinx and The FFL to perfect their skills in the art of stage performance on November 10 and 11. This intensive program, organized by Intramurock, offered the musicians a complete two-day immersion in live conditions, with a sound engineer, lighting designer, and all the stage equipment made available.
Stef Buriez’s objective? Work on the stage presence of the participants and give them the tools to structure a captivating set, with personalized advice on attitude, staging, and interaction with the audience.
Professional and caring supervision
The technical support of the Carré SAM sound and light team also allowed the musicians to immerse themselves in a professional environment. “It was very educational to work under the direction of Stef, and to see the other group evolve at the same time,” confides Dirty Jinx, who found in this moment of sharing a friendly and enriching atmosphere. “Stef Buriez emphasized elements that we more or less knew, but hearing them from a professional reinforced our development.”
The FFL, for their part, found in this experience a real opportunity for development: “The work and time devoted to the group allowed us to improve technically and scenically, and brought us closer to each other. The stage conditions were top, allowing you to put yourself in a situation. A real pleasure to have had this chance thanks to Intramurock, Carré SAM and the city of Boulogne-sur-Mer.”
Groups in full stage evolution
The two groups selected by Intramurock each have a style and a history. The FFL, a female quintet formed last June, is made up of musicians with diverse experiences, merging a nuanced psych rock universe with compositions and covers in English and French. For them, this masterclass was an opportunity to strengthen their cohesion and refine their artistic image.
On the other side, Dirty Jinxa bold group inspired by Brass House and comprising two saxophonists and a drummer, tackled Moon Hooch’s repertoire while exploring their own compositions. This young group from Boulogne had already caused a sensation this year at the Intramurock festival. This experience allowed them to solidify their stage bases and to benefit from training on techniques for setting up and occupying space.
Thus, thanks to this masterclass, these two groups can now approach their future concerts with increased confidence and renewed energy, determined to apply the advice received to shine on stage.
