The Objectif 3D school was able to discover the rendering of its mapping on the Arc de Triomphe, Tuesday November 12, two days before the start of “Heart of the City in Lights” in Montpellier.
A project to put on your CV. This is how the 24 students from the Objectif 3D school in Montpellier perceived their gigantic visual which will be projected for three days on the Arc de Triomphe, on the occasion of Cœur de ville en Lumières.
One of the city’s most beautiful monuments is therefore honored by the students of Thibault Deltour, for whom this is the second participation after that of last year. “I don’t see what more we can ask for to put the work of the school in the spotlight.”
No more cleaning with this second pass, so the small errors have been corrected. “We know where we need to be careful, like the cornice of the arch. We have to play with it. We made an effort with the colorimetry, some colors work better than others”specifies the referent.
Constant support
This year, the visuals will revolve around sport with the passing of the Olympic Games and the anniversary of the MHSC. A theme that delights Alexandre Le Gall, the student who is a skateboard fan. “We really had to find different ideas for each sport. We tried to represent as many sports as possible.” The different disciplines will come to life on the stone through the motto “Faster, higher, stronger”.
After a long pre-production and research phase, the students were able to work on the technique to produce the different shots for a total duration of four minutes.
Traffic in the city center from Thursday November 14 to Saturday November 16
La Tam will strengthen its service from November 14 to 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Line 4 will be diverted and will not serve the stations located between Saint-Roch station and Place de l’Europe.
Bicycle racks will be installed at the Arc de Triomphe, the Agora, Place Albert I, on the Esplanade and Place Molière.
The city center is closed to traffic from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Finally, the Préfecture and Arc de Triomphe car parks will be closed during screening times.
Three months of work later, the mission is accomplished. And the pride grows. “It was a lot of pressure for each student. But it motivates everyone because it’s an ambitious project. The mutual help made the difference”believes Maëllys Buffelard, particularly proud of the progress accomplished. “We saw it on a very small screen, we can’t wait to see it on a super large surface. It’s a lot of stress to show it because it’s a work that we kept a lot to ourselves”recognizes Alexandre Le Gall for his part.
Two days before the general public, Tuesday, the students and their teacher were able to discover the rendering and adjust a few small details before the performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
For the next edition, Thibault Deltour already has an idea in mind. “Why not do the Opéra de la Comédie. It’s a site where there is a lot of light pollution. It would be quite a challenge.”
