Loubaba Laalej’s “Poetry and Painting” exhibition opens in Rabat

The Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans living abroad is organizing, from November 14 to December 14 in Rabat, the exhibition “Poetry and Painting” by the Franco-Moroccan artist Loubaba Laalej. The opening of this exhibition will take place this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Espace Rivages of the Foundation and will be enriched with a poetic reading accompanied by lute, followed by a signing session of the book “Poetry and Painting” by the artist, indicates the Foundation on its website. “Loubaba Laalej pushes the boundaries between painting and poetry by creating a dialogue between these two art forms on his canvases, where the poem comes to life through the nuances of colors. A renewal influenced by her migratory experience which enriched her creativity and pushed her to explore beyond the beaten path,” explains the same source. Originally from Fez, Laalej moved to in 1956 and acquired degrees in journalism, sociology and international studies. Coming from a family of artists, she developed an interest in writing and the visual arts very early on. His works have been exhibited in several countries, notably in , Italy, Vietnam and Spain.

In 2019, the artist was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Forum International des Beaux-arts in recognition of his work. An active member of the Permanent Bureau of the League of African Women Writers and the Alliance of Arab Creators, she has published several poetic collections such as “Vagabond Thoughts”, “Mysticity and Plasticity”, “Malhoun and Painting”, “Poetry and Painting” and “Icons of feminine plasticity”.
