He described this final as “great, a great time.” Le Loirétain Clotaire Poirier, originally from Orléans and trained at the hotel high school from Orleans, finally lost in the final of Top Chef, beaten by his opponent and friend Jorick Dorignac. If he admits to being “obviously a little disappointed“, Clotaire Poirier believes that “It’s very deserved for Jorick. Compared to his career in Top Chef, and he was better than me in this event. I lost but a friend won, I was still happy [pour lui]” he declared to France Bleu Orléans.

“I made a menu that I was proud of”

In the Top Chef final, the two candidates and their teams put together a complete menu, tasted by the show’s chefs, including Philippe Etchebest, Hélène Darroze and Paul Pairet, but also tasted by around a hundred guests, mostly from Red Cross volunteers. “I made a menu that I was proud of” says Clotaire Poirier. “I had good feedback from the chefs but the rest of the tasters decided otherwise.

Scandinavian dashi (broth) as a starter, fish for the main course, and a revisitation of a cheesecake for dessert, Clotaire Poirier’s menu was indeed appreciated by the chefs, who gave it 7 points out of 10, leaving only 3 for Jorick Dorignac. But the guests preferred the other menu.
