The School of the Young Spectator launches its cultural season with “Tara on the Moon”

The Young Spectator School presented the preview of the Darija adaptation of “Tara on the Moon” on Saturday, November 9 at the Al Hassani Cultural Complex, located on El Jadida road. This show, of Spanish origin and already translated into Mandarin, English and French, constitutes the first adaptation in Darija of an international production for young audiences. This event also marks the launch of the 2024-2025 season, with a monthly program dedicated to children and adolescents, offering works in French and Darija to promote inclusive access to culture.

The performance featured Moroccan actress Nisrine Benchara, who played the role of Tara, a young girl going on an adventure to save the Moon after the mysterious disappearance of her grandfather. Combining theater and animation, the show offered an immersive experience, designed for young audiences.

With more than ten years of activity and more than 300 performances, the École du Jeune Spectateur’s mission is to make theater accessible to a wide audience. Supported by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the initiative offers an educational program to support parents and teachers in introducing young people to live performance. In addition to public performances, private and free sessions are organized for public schools and associations, allowing a greater number of people to discover theatrical culture.

The 2024-2025 season offers one show per month, welcoming children and adolescents in the rooms of the Al Hassani Cultural Complex in Casablanca and the Bahnini Hall in Rabat. After “The Little Prince” in October and “Tara on the Moon” in November, the programming includes “In the Skin of Cyrano” in December, “The Nutcracker” in January, “Les Fourberies de Scapin” in February, “Monsieur Timoté” in March, “Gretel & Hansel” in April, and “Les Trois Brigands” in May 2025. The shows, in French or Darija, aim to ensure cultural accessibility to young audiences.
