For its tenth anniversary, Le Potage des chefs returns to Place du Breuil, in Le Puy, Saturday November 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year, 34 restaurateurs are joining forces with the Habitat et Humanisme association to create these solidarity soups. New this year, a competition for the general public has been set up.
For the tenth anniversary of the Potage des chefs, organized by the Habitat et humanisme association and which will take place on Saturday November 16 on the Place du Breuil in Puy-en-Velay, the organizers have decided to set up a soup competition open to all. “We wanted to mark the occasion,” explains Marie-Thérèse Duboeuf, member of the organizing association.
1,000 liters of soup and 34 restaurateurs
The principle is simple: you just have to register and everyone can participate by proposing a recipe. A surprise will be reserved for the winner. For the rest, nothing changes. Located in the heart of the Marian city, the association will distribute soups (nearly 1,000 liters!) ordered by gourmets and prepared in advance by the 34 restaurateurs involved, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Among them, prestigious names. We will thus find Yoan Delorme, starred chef of Chamarlenc, who will offer an autumn pistou. For his part, Michaël Ruat from L’Émotion will introduce his curry cauliflower velouté and Aurélien Vidal, from the House of the same name, will put squash in the spotlight in his velouté. Note, for this edition, the participation of seven new establishments: the Hôtel de la Loire in Goudet, the Mirage in Chaspuzac, the Tajmahal, the Christel and 7 Instant in Puy-en-Velay as well as the Brasserie Au Bureau in Brives -Charensac. For its part, Slate will make its return after a short absence. This year 34 restaurateurs will be mobilized
While some restaurants will participate for the first time, others are regulars at the event. “Some have been there from the beginning,” says Marie-Thérèse Duboeuf, member of the association. Among the faithful, Guillaume Fourcade, who has been the godfather of the event since its creation. “For the first edition, I took care of approaching restaurateurs,” says the chef who was immediately won over by the association’s project. Very involved in the event, he will cook in the company of beneficiaries of the association the same day, on the Place du Breuil. He will be accompanied by three other chefs: Steve Gaucher from Greta du Velay, Christian Larose from the Souillac hotel school in the Lot, and the Swiss team from Diablerets with Eva Gallaz. These soups will be available from 11 a.m.

Finally, as has been the case for several years, it will be possible to taste soups from all over the world on site. A Syrian soup, another from Burundi, Romania or even a Ukrainian borsch will be served in a bowl throughout the morning. Sold for 10 euros per liter, the soups will be used to help the Habitat et Humanisme association in its efforts to support people in vulnerable situations (disability, loneliness, age and social situation) by offering housing solutions and social ties to its beneficiaries. This year, 120 people are being supported by the association in reintegration processes.
