“Everyone is listening”: a music teacher makes a difference for many children

Teachers are an important part of children’s lives and this music teacher from Longueuil is no exception. Her passion and dedication to her students make a difference in their daily lives.

A trained guitarist, Pascal Bujold converted to teaching 10 years ago, a new profession that completely changed his life. He shares his passion on a daily basis with the young people at George-Étienne-Cartier elementary school.

“The students here play music, the students play a lot, the students sing a lot […] It’s very healthy, very pure, very strong. It’s very gratifying, very very very gratifying to see that we are important in their lives,” he explained to TVA Nouvelles.

He is not only appreciated by his work colleagues, but also by young people.

“I have never seen a music teacher so talented, so dynamic,” said one student.

Passionate, he not only teaches, he directs a choir during recess and composes songs that he then teaches to his students.

“The songs that I compose, I really want, I need to compose them for the students. Then, a community is created here. There is a feeling of belonging,” added Mr. Pascal.

For him, it is different from French or mathematics, because not all students like these subjects. “Everyone listens to music,” he said.
