A page has turned at 37 rue Paul-Lendrin. On November 5, the emblematic bookseller of the Contrebandes store, Paola Nini, left her place for a brand new project, after fifteen years of good and loyal service.
This one is worn by Alexiane Tayot, a 25-year-old from Aveyron, who came to open a new chapter in her life in the harbor: “I have been a bookseller for five years and I wanted to start my own business. I was looking to settle in the South and I knew that Paola was selling her bookstore…”
A few months later, here she is, installed behind the counter of the downtown establishment, with an employee to accompany her on this adventure. “The Three Brigands” is the new name that the former Contrabands now wears. A tribute to the eponymous youth album, signed Tomi Ungerer.
Creative workshops, reading snacks…
“Children’s literature is something that is close to my heart. It is extremely rich and full of proposals”says the manager, who wants to give this tone to her store. The reorientation of the independent bookstore has already started well. It will continue at the beginning of 2025, with a few days of work planned after the sales period, in order to make Trois brigands a specialized boutique for young people.
So, 9,000 references (comics, novels, mangas, documentaries, picture books, touch books, giant books, etc.) for ages 0 to 18 (or over) will fill the shelves of the refurbished bookstore, as well as board games and books. creative hobbies. “I will also organize creative workshops, reading snacks and lots of activities to make the place lively. But there will still be the possibility of ordering books other than children’s literature”adds Alexiane, who intends to write a beautiful story in her new premises.
Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Records Unit has moved
This was one of the particularities of Contrabandes. Since 2019, the store has hosted a vinyl seller in one corner: Cellule Records. In mid-October, Damien and his approximately 2,000 references moved not far from there, to the artists’ studio of the Crypt. You can now find his vinyls at 5 rue Félix-Pyat.
