The small world of watchmaking has been talking about it for almost a year: after having brilliantly revitalized Breitling since 2017, Georges Kern bought, in December 2023, a gem of time, Universal Genève, born in 1836. Since the 1980s and the crisis quartz, the brand survived without much conviction. A few days ago, “the watch designer”, as he was nicknamed in his golden age, formalized his rebirth with the launch of a website and the re-promotion of his star models from the 1930s to 1960s. , such as the Tri-Compax and the Cabriolet. That is exactly seventy years after the release of its emblematic watch, the Polerouter, initially ordered from the manufacture by the Scandinavian airline SAS in 1954, and the first success of a very young watch designer, Gérald Genta.

New products inspired, of course, by this heritage are announced for fall 2026. «On this brand, everything has to be redone, but there is everything to succeed…
