Cédric Grolet presents his new sandwich sold for €30 and causes controversy

Cédric Grolet is once again in controversy because of the exorbitant price of his latest creation: a ham and cheese sandwich with truffle.

We don't know if the famous Parisian pastry chef is taking consumers for hams or for truffles. What is certain is that we find these two ingredients in his new creation.

Cédric Grolet had already sparked controversy with his strawberry tart at 80 euros and his Yule log at 95 euros, without forgetting his galette des rois at 90 euros. This time, it is not in the sweet but in the savory that the former juror of Top Chef is making his teeth cringe.

At the end of October, he unveiled a ham, cheese and truffle baguette sandwich, available in his store in . If the price is a problem, he can count on a host of influencers curious to discover this exceptional dish and promote it.

A sandwich that “isn’t worth the price”

For example, Parisian influencer Carla Sofiya is one of the customers who paid the sum of 30 euros to taste the famous sandwich. If she seems to enjoy her lunch, which she describes as “really good”she concedes that he “not worth the price”.

Quite simply because a sandwich, even one made with quality products, should never cost that much. Internet users have not hidden their indignation, between those who indicate that it is the same price for a dish in the restaurant, and those who believe that it is “walk on your head”.

According to Madame Figaro, this exorbitant price is justified by the exceptional products used in the sandwich. In addition to the Paris ham, butter and pickles, the baguette would be homemade with chestnut flour and of course, the Périgord truffle to top it all off makes the addition even saltier.

As for whether these ingredients justify its price, we'll let consumers decide.
