PORTRAIT – After thirty years working in the hotel and restaurant industry, sixteen of which were dedicated to Hippopotamus, Bruno Guinebretière took over as general manager of the rapidly changing brand.
Bruno Guinebretière imagined himself following in the footsteps of his dental surgeon parents. He obtained a scientific baccalaureate and began his first year of medicine before understanding that his vocation was not to follow the family tradition. He ultimately found his path through his seasonal jobs.
Great opportunity
Every summer, he worked for the Barrière group, as a bellman, valet or bartender. These teenage experiences sealed his union with the hotel and restaurant industry, which he now perpetuates by taking over as general manager of Hippopotamus.
Finished health studies, he enrolled at the prestigious EHL in Lausanne. After obtaining his diploma and a quick stint in the Lutetia palace, he launched his business in 1994 by buying three establishments, including an Irish pub. A business that he sold six years later, thanks to a great opportunity.
