15 years ago, Mohamed Amira had an extraordinary experience by participating in has Incredible Talentthe channel’s famous television show M6. Director of youth structures, this 51-year-old resident of Montereau-Fault-Yonne managed to seduce the producers who contacted him directly to join the casting, after spotting his videos online: “They had already contacted me two years ago before, but I refused because they wanted me to dress up as Michael Jackson “, he explains.

“This brought us great popularity”

Finally, he agreed to participate in the 2009 edition of the talent competition on one condition: to be able to take with him dancers from the Home for All of Montereau and the Youth center of Avon.

“I said yes, but I had my conditions. And the additional condition was that I take my own dancers from Montereau to participate with me,” he confides.

A decision that paid off since his young protégés were able to stand out throughout the adventure. This is how his troupe of dancers was born, Secret of Moonwalk. After having managed to qualify for the semi-final, then the final, Mohamed and his team had to work urgently to prepare for their final passage.

“We only had one weekend to work on a new choreography. We did a number that wasn’t as accomplished as the others, but we had a lot of fun “, he recalls.

Although they did not achieve victory (returned to the dance group Les Echos-Liés), this experience was a real success for Mohamed and his dancers: “It brought us great popularityI had a lot of contacts afterwards,” he emphasizes.

The production of the show even called on him to become a coach for candidates on other programs, such as In search of the new Michael Jacksonbroadcast on W9 fin 2010.

This television adventure therefore had a lasting impact on the life of Mohamed, but also of his young protégés, opening up new professional and personal perspectives for them. This is particularly the case of Samuel Arnold, who has become one of the main actors of the series Emily In on Netflix.

“His dream was always to be an actor. I have always pushed my young people to go all the way with what they want to do,” he insists.

Today, however, Mohamed advises young people to participate in this type of program “for pleasure” rather than in the hope of making a career from it: “I always warned them that tomorrow everything can stop », he concludes.
