After 35 years at the head of his association, this popular cycling club leader will leave his position

The November 7, 2024on the occasion of its general meeting, the Bletteranois handlebarsclub cycling located in Bletterans, will change president. And the one who wasiconic leader and especially the founder, Roger Chevalierwill leave his jersey studded with sponsor names in the locker room.

For the Voix du Jura, he returned to this extraordinary adventure who saw him start as cycling instructor with delinquents, from 1966 in Montbéliard country. Then he will continue in 1978as a member of CC Étupes where he runs the cycling school with young people.

> Roger, how was the Guidon Bletteranois born?

” In 1986I was transferred to Lavigny. But to continue cycling in Étupes, that’s a long way away. And I turned towards the VC Lonsbut young people, it was not the club’s policy. So, I decided to create the Guidon à Bletterans in November 1989. »

> How was this creation perceived in the region?

“It was not easy and the mayors, the people, took a dim view of children on the roads where we are more accustomed to seeing cows or horses. The race commissioners did not appreciate events with children. And fortunately, there was Jean Perrodinthe mayor of Bletterans of the time, who offered metemporarily accommodate the club where he always is, Place du Colombier. This allowed recognition of the club. »

> Has the Handlebar evolved in 35 years?

“We created the section cyclo then that of baby bike and since last year a disabled bike section with a recumbent bike Nathalie Cagne. But the philosophy behind the Handlebars has not evolved one hundredth. It’s mine, the one with the cycling school for young people and there, I’m proud of it. »

> Do you have any projects to pass on to your successors?

“I had considered home delivery in connection with theADMR. I also thought about makingbike support of people on our local paths and roads and above all, I always hope to see the birth of a centre national VTT to welcome practitioners for troubleshooting or to offer a coffee. But I have one regret, it’s the center of cycling at the leisure center in Desnes which was unsuccessful. »

> What are your best memories?

“There are all the races that we have organized, but it is above all the behavior of the children when traveling, with good results. I never wanted to make them circus beasts, but to give them the technical means and motivation to go further. And then there is the recognition of the people who leave telling me that the circuit was good. »

> What are the great successes of Guidon Bletteranois?

“I can quote Guillaume Sarrewho served as team doctor AG2R At the Worldsor even Pierre Gautherat, runner also with AG2R. And above all Evita Music has become one of the best international ones. She’s a winner, just like she was when she was little. »
