Good news and bad news. On the negative side, the Ramen Mian Mian Ju Dao restaurant on rue de Strasbourg, open since 2016, will close its doors on October 31. In question, “the recovery of space by the owner”.
Focused on Chinese cuisine, the establishment offered all kinds of ramen typical of several regions of the Middle Kingdom on its menu. Let the disappointed rest assured, nothing is changing for the second restaurant of the small franchise, located at 24 place Guillaume-II.
It’s only a goodbye, since it will reopen… in Belval, next spring. Fans of steaming and spicy bowls of soup can find it on Avenue du Swing, not far from Basic-Fit, “but bigger”.
Chinese and Korean cuisine
Second good news, the chain will expand with a third address in Luxembourg City from November 5. Already announced in our columns a few months ago, it is a new concept, with a different name: Guo Guo Ju Dao. Described as “a unique hot pot and barbecue restaurant”, it will be close to the train station, at 54 avenue de la Liberté.
Contacted by us, the staff confirms that it will therefore be Chinese and Korean cuisine. The term hot pot refers to Chinese fondue, an emblematic and essential dish in China. It’s a kind of pot-au-feu, with a pot filled with broth constantly heated by a hot plate. Everything is accompanied by a variety of dishes ready to be cooked in the broth by each guest.
Whether vegetables, pieces of meat, seafood, or noodles, once cooked, they are then dipped in several sauces of your choice, to add even more flavor.
On the Korean side, the typical barbecue is characterized by a large grill placed in the center of the table, which allows everyone around to cook their own food, like a plancha. Here again, everything is often accompanied by several small dishes, such as a small bowl of rice, kimchi (fermented cabbage) or salad.
The menu is still being developed, but it is already possible to reserve online. The managers are even offering an event offer for the launch: for each fondue ordered, a stock of broth will be offered, as well as free premium beef for each barbecue order.
As for opening hours, the restaurant will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Friday and from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
