Tension is rising between rapper Cardi B and billionaire Elon Musk, and it's obviously happening on X (formerly Twitter). In fact, the CEO of Tesla and X called Cardi a “puppet” following her participation in a Kamala Harris meeting. For his part, the billionaire has been ensuring his unwavering support for Donald Trump for several months.
It all started when a right-wing account posted a video of Cardi B at the Milwaukee rally in support of Kamala Harris. In this video, a teleprompter problem forces the singer to improvise while a phone is passed to her with her notes. Musk, mockingly quoted the original tweet: “Another puppet who cannot speak without being whispered the words”. According to him, Kamala Harris' campaign “lack of authenticity and true empathy”.
But Cardi B was quick to respond with the response we know. She thus recalled her personal journey, far from that of billionaire Musk. She tweeted:
She ends by highlighting the immense gap between their realities: Musk, himself born into a wealthy family in South Africa, has never known the challenges of a life marked by precarity, unlike Cardi B, who never hesitates to remember where it comes from.
Beyond this quarrel, Cardi B took advantage of her speech in Milwaukee to address subjects that are close to her heart, including women's rights and equality. “Like Kamala Harris, I have often been the underdog. My success was minimized, discredited. Women have to work ten times harder, do ten times better, and despite everything, we still question our successes.”
