On May 21, 2024, a lioness entered a garden in a residential area in Kenya and attacked a Rottweiler dog.

The Rottweiler dog of a family in Nairobi, Kenya, was killed by a lioness on May 21, reports the BBC.

The scene filmed by a video surveillance camera is impressive. The footage shows the lioness jumping on the wall protecting the house in the residential area. She remains motionless for a few minutes, probably to observe her prey, then ends up jumping into the garden.

“The attack didn’t even last ten minutes”

We see her appear a few seconds later, a 75 kilo Rottweiler between her teeth: “We went out looking for our dog. At the same time, the lioness was only a few meters away…“, explained the owner to the BBC who witnessed the entire scene.

The attack didn’t even last ten minutes […] In the blink of an eye, we lost our dog“, he added.

“I hit her with all my might.”

It was a neighbor of the owners who scared the animal away. Questioned by our British colleagues, he details: “I grabbed a machete and struck it with all my might against an iron plate in the hope that the noise would scare it away.”

The feline finally fled, calmly leaving the garden, its meal still in its mouth.

An investigation was opened by local authorities to prevent another accident of this type from happening again.
