She spoke at length: her career as a model, her meetings, her life at the Elysée… But she also spoke about the illness. Carla Bruni revealed in a long interview with Vanity Fair that she was still battling breast cancer detected in 2019.

And after the initial shock has passed, it’s practically invigorating, even if it’s painful, worrying and distressing. This is the case with regard to the medications I have to take, given that I am not in remission at all.

Although she doesn’t talk about it much, the former First Lady revealed in an Instagram post that she had the disease last October, on the occasion of Pink October.

Surgery, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy, I follow the usual path to treat this type of cancer. But I was lucky: my cancer was not yet aggressive“, explained Carla Bruni in particular.

Since then, the former model has undergone treatment which has changed her daily life. “The first two years, I kept telling myself: this medicine is hard. And one day I spoke to a hairdresser friend. He asked me why I wasn’t having lunch. However, Tamoxifen causes weight gain, which I have never experienced, hence the idea of ​​reducing my number of meals. This friend told me: deep down, you should thank this medicine. Since then, I have blessed Tamoxifen every morning. I say to myself: what a wonder, I have this medicine!”

Carla Bruni nonetheless slows down her professional life. She is currently preparing her next album and was present on the Croisette during the last Cannes Film Festival.

She concludes: “I have a 12 year old little girl: I want to be able to see her big, big….”
