“We were shopping when we received a message on our Facebook page. At first, I didn’t believe it,” recalls Marie-Josée Leriche. With her husband Damien, with whom she manages the restaurant Le Juquinlocated on Quai du Hâble in Dieppe (Seine-Maritime), they were thus approached by the production of M6 to participate in the show “The best regional cuisine is at home!” “.

The concept: every week, the chefs Norbert Tarayrewell-known face of television, and Yoann Conteelected Gault&Millau chef of the year in 2024, travel to a region to taste the local cuisine of different restaurateurs. Every day, two establishments compete. At the end of the week, the “best typical restaurant in its region” is elected.

The restaurant Le Juquin will be on the small screen Monday October 28, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. on M6.

A “simple and efficient” kitchen

“After accepting, we had a casting call,” recalls Damien Leriche. Then it was only 15 days before the shoot that we found out we were taken. » The restaurateurs, who took over the establishment in January 2023, were selected from more than 2,000 restaurants.

“What interested them was homemade and traditional cuisine,” explains Marie-Josée Leriche. We're not doing gourmet, it's simple and effective. » In this restaurant with 22 indoor seats, this friendly couple works with fresh local produce.

A 100% Norman menu to prepare

For the show, they had to prepare a 100% Norman menu. The couple admits that with the constraints and demands of the film crew, they were “not able to do it exactly as we wanted”. The Dieppois will face another restaurant in Honfleur.

During filming, Damien and Marie-Josée Leriche were able to benefit from the advice of Norbert Tarayre and Yoann Conte. “They are not there to crush restaurateurs,” emphasizes Marie-Josée. They are two very nice people who don't bother. »

“We are not going to get big heads”

If the day with the television teams was trying – “we got home at 3 a.m.,” says the restaurateur – Damien Leriche believes that he “would do it again with great pleasure”.

Before their appearance on M6, the couple assures that this show “is not going to change anything”. “The cuisine will remain the same, we won’t get big heads,” smiles Marie-Josée Leriche. “I will continue to work with fresh products and the seasons,” adds Damien.
