Rabat – Director Faouzi Bensaïdi will begin a tour from June 2 to 7, in the rooms of the French Institute of Morocco in Rabat, Kénitra, Casablanca and Meknes, shedding light on his artistic career and presenting two of his feature films. emblematic films “Déserts” (2023) and “Mille Mois” (2003).

This tour constitutes a suitable opportunity for the public to interact with the Moroccan director on all of his works and his artistic journey, with screenings-meetings planned in the Gérard Philipe room in Rabat (June 2), the cinemas of the French Institute of Kénitra (June 3) and Casablanca (June 4), as well as at the Caméra cinema in Meknes (June 6 and 7), indicates a press release from the French Institute of Morocco.

Theater director and actor, Faouzi Bensaïdi directed his first multi-award winning short film, “La Falaise” in 1997. Then, he co-wrote “Loin” with André Téchiné. In 2000, he directed two short films: “Le Mur”, presented at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes and “Trajets”, awarded at the Venice Film Festival.

His first feature film, “A Thousand Months” received the “Le premier regard” and “De la jeunesse à Un Certain Regard” prizes. Also, several of his films have won awards, including, “WWW – What a Wonderful World” at the Venice Film Festival, “Mort à vente” which won the Art et Essai Prize at the Berlinale, “Volubilis” (Venice Days) , “Summer Days” and “Deserts”.

An essential figure in Moroccan cinema, Faouzi Bensaïdi is recognized for the aesthetic commitment of his cinema, the power of his productions and his films with marked influences. A multi-awarded international artist, he was recently honored with the Golden Star at the Marrakech International Film Festival for his 25-year career.
