The Moroccan publishing house Bouillon de Culture publishes the comic strip “Fossils and Dinosaurs of Morocco” by Kamille Castaigna and Mohamed Haïti. According to the publisher, this work is an adventure, a journey back in time to a time when Morocco was populated by giants and dinosaurs reigned supreme.

This was the case of Atlasaurus Imelakei from the Azilal region (“the giant of the Atlas”) and Carcharodontosaurus (our national T.Rex). “Travels in very distant times. This is what the fossils that we find today almost everywhere in Morocco offer us,” it says. This first opus aims to tell the history of paleontology in Morocco and at the same time make known the paleontological wealth of the Kingdom in comics. It is the story of the discovery through fossils of these forgotten, little-known worlds, populated by now extinct species, such as dinosaurs, in the grandiose landscapes of our planet in formation, alternating tropical climate and periods of cooling.

“A color comic, didactic and semi-fictional since it is partly inspired by the personal story of Moussa Masrour, professor-researcher in paleontology at the Ibn Zohr University of Agadir, which allows us to discover not only the history paleontology of Morocco via different sites and its own discoveries, but also the profession of paleontologist in general,” explains the same Source.

And to add that “this stroll through the ages for a short history and science lesson in situ allows you to approach various other disciplines: biology, chemistry, geology, botany. A comic book that makes rigorous, well-documented scientific content accessible without being a school work stricto sensu.”
