“I could no longer stand being called a ‘dirty Jew’”: Richard Berry admits to having slapped his ex-partner Catherine Hiegel

This Tuesday, May 28, 2024, accused of violence against his ex-partner Catherine Hiegel, Richard Berry wanted to respond and therefore sent his response to Fabien Lecoeuvre, columnist for “Touche pas à mon poste”.

Published on Instagram several days ago now, the photo showing Catherine Hiegel with a message accusing her ex-companion Richard Berry of violence during her pregnancy, was widely relayed. The French actor, rather discreet on the subject, decided to break the silence.

“I admitted to having given a slap”

The man of cinema sent his response to the accusations to TPMP columnist Fabien Lecoeuvre who read it on set this Tuesday. “I want you to know that I admitted to once slapping Catherine when I was 24 because I could no longer stand being called a ‘dirty Jew’ by her and her family.”said the French director, now 73 years old, quoted by Leisure TV.

“As for the injury for which she accuses me of being responsible: she did it to herself by vomiting in her sink, because she was constantly dead drunk during her pregnancy. During the pregnancy, Coline weighed 1.9 kilo and was placed directly in an incubator at birth”justified Richard Berry, who denounced the behavior of his ex-wife during the pregnancy of their daughter.

He does not hesitate to return the ball to Catherine Hiegel. “It’s Catherine the violent and as you know, this family is deeply anti-Semitic, her father was convicted twice and Catherine is in the same lineage even if she denies it. Thank you Richard Berry”indicated Fabien Lecoeuvre on the set while reading Richard Berry’s response.

“He hits my head against the sink.”

The accusation comes from an Instagram post on the account of photographer Marc Melki. As part of a work called “After the violence”, Marc Melki photographed Catherine Hiegel in Paris this Wednesday, May 22.

Relayed on social networks, the image shows the actress holding a notepad where it is written in the caption: “He bangs my head against the sink. Stitched in the arch, several slaps. The last one, seven months pregnant, explodes my eardrum. Coline turns over in my stomach. Sentenced to a cesarean. I did not carry complaint. I left him!!

Catherine Hiegel is referring here to the actor Richard Berry with whom she was in a relationship in the 70s. The facts are not dated but they date back around fifty years when she was pregnant with their daughter Coline.
