Eastern Plain: the Aleria Antica festival once again takes place on the ancient site

It is a highly anticipated event every year at Aleria. Firstly, because it promotes the ancient site and then, because it always attracts a lot of people. Aleria Anticafestival created by the company Teatreuropa worn by Orlando Forioso, returns this year to Aleria. With a program prepared well in advance.

“From January to April, artists from the Teatreuropa company intervened in the classes of primary and middle schools in Bastia, Ghisonaccia, Prunelli di Fiumorbu, Corte, Aghione, Riventosa and Calvi to work with the students on the creation of stories, texts , actions, materials, repetitions of scenes around the myths of Atalanta and Heracles”indicates Orlando Forioso.

A work returned directly to the ancient site since May 16 with the organization of the Aleria Olympic Games. “For three weeks, primary schools, middle schools and high schools will compete in sporting and theatrical competitions staged on the forum of ancient Aleria, transformed into a stadium for the occasion,” he specifies.

Place for shows

Last week, students and actors from Calvi primary and middle schools shared the stage with soprano Maryline Leonetti, baritone Antoine Maestracci, Corsican actors Jacky Quilichini, Marie-Paule Franceschetti and Italian actors Orlando Forioso and Michèle Onori , all in the roles of ancient deities.

From this Monday, May 27 and until Thursday, May 30, rehearsals and shows will ignite the site. Middle and high school students will come together to share sports and theater. “Another novelty lies in the introduction of music and singing, adds Orlando Forioso. The young participants will sing in chorus some songs created for the occasion. During the workshops in the classes, they also prepared to be able to sing together. We have provided medals and prizes for winners and losers. The important thing is not to participate but to win! Sorry, no, it’s the opposite: The important thing is to playfully explore memory and history and to know your territory.”

The festival provides entertainment every day with children always at the center of the festival. “Wednesday the football teams from the Eastern Plain will come to participate in the Aleria Olympic Games and Thursday will be the international day during which the Porto-Vecchio high school, as part of the Erasmus projects [+, ndlr]will invite the high school students from Florence.”

The next meeting of the festival is set for Saturday June 29 for the premiere of the big show Orpheus and Eurydice.
