The crowd and the emotion. The parade which opened this Saturday, May 25, 2024, the two weeks of farewell of the Éventail company in Sablé-sur-Sarthe attracted more than a hundred Saboliens, from the Place de la République market to Place Raphaël- Elize. Four professional dancers took around thirty amateurs under the eyes of Marie-Geneviève Massé.

“They carried me”

Moved, the founding choreographer of the company joined the troupe and could not hold back a few tears in front of the outstretched hands of her dancers, at the roundabout of Place de la République. “They carried me as much as I could carry them all these years”.

The music and dances took the audience on a journey to India, with a return to the baroque during the choreography imagined by Marie-Geneviève Massé. The four professional dancers, two of whom came from Paris, learned it on Thursday and rehearsed the day before. “It’s a challenge every time”noted Bérengère Bodénan, one of the pros who also signed the amateur choreographies. “Since the parade has existed in 2015, we have seen people come from all neighborhoods to attend it. Children, seniors, the mix works well”she rejoiced.

Exhibitions, workshops, interviews, shows

Until June 8, events continue for the general public and schools with the support of the Conservatory and the Houlala Compagnie under the big top set up this weekend in Montreux.

Marie-Geneviève Massé will perhaps deliver some memories on Thursday June 6 during a baroque interview given to the puppet journalist Rosie Palmer at L’Entracte, in the company of costume designer Olivier Bériot and director Vincent Tavernier. If the latter Flasmob symbolically closes the history of the company, Bérengère Bodénan and Casa Feliz will invent a new dance event in the street from next year, on May 25 for Mother’s Day, to the music of the musical Mamma mia! Sablé will continue to dance, which will certainly delight Marie-Geneviève Massé.

Until June 8: exhibition of posters at the Micro-Folie and costumes at the Apostrophe, workshops and concerts under the Montreux marquee. The entire program on the company’s website.
