Fez – Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa chaired, Friday evening in Fez, the opening ceremony of the 27th edition of the Fez Festival of sacred music of the world, organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, under the theme: “The quest for the Spirit of Al-Andalus”.

On this occasion, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa followed, from the official stand, the opening concert of this edition which continues until June 1, honoring the Kingdom of Spain.

This colorful inaugural evening, under the theme “Zyriab or the fifth string”, invites you on a journey to the sources of inspiration of Andalusian music, between sky and earth, mountains and palaces, bringing together internationally renowned artists from all over the world. the horizons that share the quest for the sacred.

The show draws on Arab-Andalusian music which inherits the teachings of ancient philosophers such as Al Firdusi or Al Kindi, themselves inspired by the thought of Pythagoras and Plato.

Poet, singer and musician of Kurdish origin, Abou Al-Hassan Ali Ibn Nafi, known as “Zyriab” (bird or the blackbird), took the sky and mountains across the court to the court during this concert. omedy of Emir Abd Al-Rahman II of Cordoba in a show bringing together artists from Uzbekistan, Iran, Syria, India, Spain, Egypt, Italy, Armenia, from France and Morocco.

The scenography of this opening evening gave pride of place to a range of renowned artists representing different traditions and cultures including Rabie Katti, Sanaa Marahati, Smadj, Loup Barrow, Juan Carmona quartet and the Madalena ensemble.

They are also Shukronakhon Kamal Khodjaeva, Shokhsanam Turunpulatova or even Ergashova Hushnozaoy and Mukhamed Janov Gulamjon.

Other great artists have also performed on the sumptuous stage of Bab Makina including Maristella Martella, Nubie Al Hamy, Karim Naggar, Ramadan Fadi and Islam Hany.

At the end of this inaugural concert, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa presented the “Young talents-Esprit de Fès Prize” to the winners of the Fez music conservatory, organized in partnership with the “Esprit de Fès” Foundation. These are the violin and Qanoun prizes awarded to Khadija Amiri, Omar Benhayoun Sadafi, Yassir Tajmouati and Meryem Chekrada.

Afterwards, Her Royal Highness posed for a souvenir photo with the artists.

On her arrival at the historic “Bab Makina” square, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa reviewed a section of the Auxiliary Forces which paid the honors, before being greeted by the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and solidarity economy, Ms. Fatima Zahra Ammor, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Swiss ambassador to Morocco, Mr. Guillaume Scheurer, the Italian ambassador to Morocco, Mr. Armando Barucco, and the minister counselor, charge d’affaires at the Spanish embassy in Morocco, Mr. Borja Montesino.

His Royal Highness was also greeted by the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region, governor of the Fez prefecture, Mr. Essaid Zniber, the president of the Council of the Fez-Meknes region, Mr. Abdelouahed El Ansari, the president of the Council municipal council of Fez, Abdeslam El Bekkali, the president of the Al Mechouar-Fès Jdid Municipal Council, Mr. Issam Filali Hamoz, and the president of the “Esprit de Fès” Foundation, Mr. Abderrafia Zouitene, as well as by the members of the Municipal Council of Fez, administration of the Foundation.
