Laury Thilleman went through a particularly difficult period two years ago. Just after her divorce from chef Juan Arbelaez, the former Miss France suffered a burnout. In a video for the media “Lou”, she explains the reasons for this breakdown and how she got through it.

After being elected Miss France in 2011, Laury Thilleman launched herself into lots of projects, on television, but also in fashion with the creation of her clothing brand. At the same time, the young woman also gave her all to sport, her passion, and was trying to have a child with her ex-husband Juan Arbelaez. “I felt invincible,” she confides today in front of the media camera Lou. Behind his smile, however, hid a real uneasiness…

“I experienced real emotional, mental and physical chaos”

“For ten years, I was caught in a whirlwind of requests, of meeting the expectations of others, and I believe that deep down, I did not really listen to myself,” analyzes Laury Thilleman. “At 30 it didn’t fail, my body gave in, my head gave in, my heart told me stop. I experienced real emotional, mental and physical chaos,” recalls the former queen of beauty who burned out in 2022, just after her divorce from Juan Arbelaez.

A knee injury in Bali

“It’s like a black ball that was deep inside me and that came out without me even seeing it happen,” she assures. By doing too much, Laury Thilleman got lost: “Beyond the external pressure that we put on ourselves to be an accomplished woman, professionally, personally, and then there is also the subject of motherhood. ..”. In the midst of burnout, the thirty-year-old decided to fly to Bali to reconnect with herself and practice the sport she loves most in the world: surfing. But, a few days after her arrival, Laury Thilleman injured her knee. An accident which forced her to return to her parents in Brittany and to really rest. “I have four months before I walk again (…) I had a work stoppage and I had to say no to 18,000 things,” she remembers before recognizing that this forced break has been “the greatest gift” of his life. Two years later, Laury Thilleman is much better and knows how to take care of herself. The former Miss France recounts her experience in her podcast “How do you do it?” , dedicated to mental health where she notably received her friend Marine Loiseau as a guest.
