Marion Combes, actress, director and theater teacher, has been running workshops for more than 10 years in the Albigensian region. With a group of adult students, she is offering an original and crazy staging of Molière’s famous play: “The Doctor Despite Him”, at the Rives du Tarn Senior Residence, at 6-10 rue Auguste Vidal, Thursday 23 May at 2:30 p.m. With deliberately anachronistic costumes set to a text by Molière, the show is guaranteed!

“Sganarelle, the woodcutter, is forced to pretend to be a great doctor! says Marion Combes. He must cure the young Lucinde of a strange illness which deprives her of speech. In reality, this illness is a feint to escape to a marriage desired by his father Géronte with the old Horace does not have much education but his intelligence, his confidence and his verve make him a timeless hero! Molière goes out of his way to denounce doctors and their incompetence, but also to denounce the arranged marriages which caused the misfortune of young women united by force with old men.

We laugh heartily at this farce which has its roots in the trestle theater of the Middle Ages. It is a family show accessible to all that the actors invite. The residents hosted by Marion Combes will then share extracts from a show they will perform in June. It’s a friendly moment that’s free and open to everyone, even people from outside.
