Lyna Mahyem’s career is doing well. The RnB singer from Argenteuil is the guest of Planète Rap this week. Skyrock’s flagship show is coming to record this Monday and Tuesday, at its home, in the Musicians district, in Val-d’Argent north, the five episodes which will be broadcast this week. The France Télévision cameras will also be there. This part of the program will be visible on France 2 and Culturebox in September.

“It’s a consecration,” she admits. I’ve been making music for eight years. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. That represents years of work. » She has already had the opportunity to appear on the show, invited by other artists. This time, the show focuses on her. “She’s really a proven artist,” emphasizes Fred Musa, the show’s host. Through hard work, the public ended up identifying him. It’s an environment that isn’t always easy for women, but I’ve never seen it give up. »

A new album on May 31

In accordance with the format of Planète rap, the singer plans to invite people with whom she has already worked, such as Franglish, Imen Es, Kayna Samet and Moha K. “Not only that, there will also be discoveries, artists who are in development,” she explains.

The flagship French rap show did her the honor of coming to her home for the recording. A favor granted only on rare occasions. “I am the first female artist for whom they relocate their set,” she confides.

“She wanted to bring us to her land, to show us where she continues to evolve,” says Fred Musa. In this show, she will have the opportunity to discuss her album “Mon Âme, summer vibes” which will be released on May 31. This is the more festive sequel to the opus she published on February 9, “Mon Âme”. A first extract, “Ya Zina”, has been broadcast since April 30.

Lyna Mahyem became known to the general public thanks to a cover of 92i Veyron by Booba in 2016. On YouTube, the track now has nearly 59 million views. “That’s how I discovered her,” remembers Fred Musa. She signed with the Def Jam France label and released a first project called LM in 2017. In 2020, she published her first album “Femme forte”, on the Nouvelle école label. Then, she continues with “Authentic”, in 2022.

In 2023, she created her own label, Mabelle music, which allows her to be autonomous artistically. The same year in which she was crowned TikTok musical artist, where she has 1.3 million subscribers, thanks to a version of her song “Demain”, first in the ranking of the most listened to songs in France. Widely followed on platforms, it has more than 270 million streams online.

“It’s something that matters today in the landscape of French rap and RnB,” comments Fred Musa. The singer’s next goal is the concert she is planning at the Zénith in Paris on November 10.
