Nine Group races on the agenda for the coming week, including a Group I, the Prix d’Ispahan, Sunday at Longchamp

After the splendor of the weekend where the obstacle was in the spotlight with its multiple Groups I, this discipline will be “on pause” in terms of Group races, but the program of races contested on the flat, and on the trot , will however be attractive, with the Isfahan prize at the top of the bill.

Before that, this flat discipline will have offered us two other Groups, the Corrida prize, from Monday in Saint-Cloud, and Thursday, with the Hocquart prize, which will also be contested at Longchamp. The Prix Corrida is a Group II for fillies and mares aged four and over. 2100 meters will be covered in this competition. We will notably find in this event, elements like PENSEE DU JOUR, which gave rise to great hopes last year, and which has just made a promising and encouraging comeback. LEFT SEA will also be present, like the British VILLAGE VOICE. On Thursday, the Jockey Club prize will be discussed in the Prix Hocquart, this race being able to be an ideal springboard for some with a view to the famous Group I to come. We will know more during the week about the forces that will actually be present, hoping for a fairly dense peloton, which has not always been the case during previous editions…

The highlight of the week will therefore be the Ispahan prize and its intermediate distance of 1850 meters for ages four and over. A race dominated over the last two years by the “visitors”, the French will nevertheless have some good assets to try to reverse the trend. Let us cite some protagonists of the Ganay prize who could be present, its winner HAYA ZARK, but also AL RIFFA or HORIZON DORE, but the attraction should be the return to the competition of BLUE ROSE CEN (photo Scoopdyga), not seen since its victory in the Opera Prize. On the British side, Charly Appleby could present MEASURED TIME, back from Meydan… During this Sunday meeting, two other Groups will take place, the Vicomtesse de Vigier prize, Group II, and the Palais Royal prize, Group III. In the first race mentioned, it will be the stayers who will be in the spotlight, on the 3100 meter holding course for ages four and over. SEVENNA’S KNIGHT will try to confirm its victory in the Prix de Barbeville, notably against DOUBLE MAJOR, excellent last year, or SOBER. As for the Palais Royal prize, 1400 meters will be on the program for ages 3 and over, a race where FORT PAYNE will try to retain its title obtained last year. There are still many entrants, including BREIZH SKY, recent winner of the Gros Caillou prize.

The trot will not be left out, with four Groups on the bill. The Louis Sauvé Prize will take place on Tuesday, a race for 5 to 11 year olds under the saddle adorned with the Group III label. This event will be an opportunity to meet some “stars” of the discipline, EDITION GEMA, GRANVILLAISE BLEUE, or even HIRONDELLE DU RIB. On Wednesday, meet with the Grand National du Trot at Croisé-Laroche, a race where INO DU LUPIN will try to score another victory, the resident of Jean-Paul Marmion announcing himself as the horse to beat. Located at the second level, he will not however be the only one to have ambitions, with horses of the value of IT’S A DOLLARMAKER, IBIKI DE HOUELLE, J’AIME LE FOOT, and other HARLEM DE BUCY at his post. In the lead, let us mention in particular HORATIUS D’ELA, while at 50 meters, GENTLY DE MUZE, GAMAY DE L’ITON, and ELITE DE JIEL are still entered. The last Trotting Groups of the week will take place on Friday, with the Prix Jean Riaud, a race equivalent to the Prix Louis Sauvé on Tuesday, but this time harnessed, and the Prix Louis Sauvé, still harnessed, but this time with the four-year-olds, two Group III races. In the first race mentioned, the champions HOOKER BERRY and ELIE DE BEAUFOUR are entered at 25 meters, while, in front, HANNA DES MOLLES, GASPAR DE BRION, USAIN TOLL, or FAKIR DE MAHEY, could be there. Among the four-year-olds, on the classic course, the pleasant KHAL’S FELLA should be seen again in a European race which promises to be tough, with also entered the very tense, but gifted, KEEP YOUR DREAMS, EXECUTIVE EK, KOMPOSTEL, or JAZZMAN, the entries being still in numbers, we will see more clearly in the days to come, but this test promises to be exciting…
