Guillaume Suduca, auctioneer of the eponymous Hôtel des Ventes will certainly be moved this Thursday during the auction of 52 lots from the two-star Toulouse chef, Lucien Vanel who died on June 10, 2010. “Following the death of his wife Lucienne, his children have decided to put part of his kitchen collection on sale, explains Guillaume Suduca. It is a sale of both passion for lovers of gastronomy and memories for this chef who gave emotion and grandeur to cooking. The majority of lots are estimated between €50 and €200.

A sale under study and also online, a little unique. “Because we find there everything that constituted the universe of this exceptional chef rewarded by the Michelin guide, details the auctioneer. A consecration for this chef who thus included Toulouse for the first time in the famous list and gives to the Pink City its letters of gastronomic nobility”. So if glasses, plates, cutlery and utensils, cake molds are of course part of this sale, more unexpected objects are also offered such as a vase signed César for Daum, one of his many aprons, recipe books, holders menus from his restaurant “Chez Vanel” created in 1973 rue Maurice Fontvielle (now Saveurs Bios), menus signed in particular by star chefs Paul Bocuse and Pierre Troisgros or even small cassolettes pierced to delicately present the bill to customers. “On the other hand, those curious or cooking enthusiasts should not look for the chef’s hat, Lucien Vanel did not wear one,” recalls Guillaume Suduca.

Lucien Vanel eternally in the language of great cuisine with the Lucien Vanel Prize created by Guy Pressanda in 2008, who chose to give the name of the famous chef to this Olympics of gastronomy which rewards the talents of today’s cuisine . A decidedly moving sale for this friend of Nougaro and Wolinski, press and comic book cartoonist, who died on January 7, 2015, shot dead by terrorists during the attack on Charlie Hebdo.
