Cannes Film Festival: a young Albigensian on the red carpet

Eyes full of stars. A young Albigensian, Céleste Bousquet-Cabanes is invited to the Cannes festival which begins this Tuesday. The high school student who is in her final year at Sainte-Marie won a competition launched by the Motor association!. She had to realize a short film (1 minute 30) about an inspiring person.

She chose the rapper Josman whose texts have notably helped them get through the ordeal of illness. The young woman was hospitalized last February and she was able to draw strength from the lyrics of her favorite singer. This is what she says in her film and what undoubtedly touched the competition jury.

George Lucas, Meryl Streep, Jonathan Cohen

Thanks to this short, the young woman will climb the steps of the Cannes festival. It will be on May 23 with the president of the competition : French actor Jonathan Cohen. “He’s a super iconic actor from France all the same. I’m very happy that he’s the president of the jury this year. It was really the icing on the cake” smiles the 17-year-old teenager. The little music of Cannes, the stars, the glitter: Céleste still can’t believe it. ” There will be George Lucas, the one who made Star Wars, there will be Studio Ghibli and I think there is Meryl Streep coming. It’s impressive.”

The dress is ready, the heels almost purchased. But to get there, Céleste filmed a touching film where she tells the story of this rapper who helped her. ” This song “Intro”, all the way through, I listened to it. I felt a little less alone. I had a major operation at the end of February and that was a bit of the trigger for the video. I needed to put into words what I was feeling.” And who knows, she may come back to Cannes. “I was the one who directed the film from A to Z. I can see myself evolving in the screenwriting industry and becoming a director, why not?”

A competition to promote equal opportunities

Céleste’s film was selected from 500 videos of young people aged 14 to 22. Created in 2015 by Caroline Sénéclauze, member of the CSA/Arcom Diversity Observatory, the Engine association! is convinced that young people’s confidence in themselves, in others, and in society, promotes equal opportunities. Engine! is an association of general interest which aims to trigger in young people aged 14 to 22 the desire to progress and grow by encouraging their encounter with inspiring models and encouraging them to plan for the future. A project centered on human relationships, which helps to give confidence and create bonds between young people from all backgrounds.
