This Saturday of Pentecost 2024, at the initiative of ABBA (Association Baie Bocage Animations), will begin the first edition of the Musicales d’Angey (Manche), a classical music festival which will take place at the church, the town hall and the manor from Angey. We had been thinking about it for some time, but it really took shape after our summer 2023 concert, which worked very well, says Robert Le Biez, president of ABBA. The question then being, are we able to mobilize the musicians and the public over two days? The idea of ​​this festival being to bring classical music closer to residents .

The team then got to work and the first concern followed, setting up a budget with corporate sponsorship, donations from individuals, subsidies, and a partnership with the Sur les quais association. Then it was time to put together the program with violinist Antoine Koelh, musical director of the festival and co-founder of the Musiciens du Mont.

A concert with young audiences

The interpretation of the Symphony of Toys by Léopold Mozart will be an opportunity for a musical approach for young audiences. Sixteen children will be alongside the sixteen instrumentalists, integrated into the orchestra, the opportunity to put them in a situation, in front of an audience, underlines Michel Saint-Martin, vice-president of ABBA. Pedagogy being one of the concerns of the orchestra. This concert, scheduled for Sunday May 19 at 11 a.m., will take place at the town hall square and will be free.

A program around Mozart, Bach, Handel and Beethoven

On Saturday, May 18, from 6 p.m., Beethoven’s Sextet in Eb and Mozart’s Joking will open the festival, followed by a percussion trio. In the evening at 8:30 p.m., baroque music with Dominique Chiarappa-Zryd, virtuoso violinist, who will perform fantasies, chaconnes and dances for solo violin, works by Telemann, Bach and, much more contemporary, Kurtág specifies the artist.

Sunday May 19, after the concert for young audiences, will follow at 12:30 p.m., Entropique, a cello-guitar duo, then at 2 p.m., Lachrimae Consort, a baroque viol and violin d’amore duo. At 4:30 p.m., at the Manoir d’Angey, the closing concert will be given with the interpretation of Handel’s Water Music and Mozart’s Symphony 40.
