Placed under the sign of the Woman with the Torch, the most legendary female figure at Columbia, the exhibition brings together around thirty rare visuals from the studio’s archives. We discover legendary actresses from Hollywood’s golden age or more contemporary ones, such as Katherine Hepburn, Deborah Kerr, Claudette Colbert, Ann-Margret, Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Julia Roberts, Michelle Yeoh and, of course, Rita Hayworth , starring Gilda, a restored version of which is presented this year as part of Cannes Classics.

“Through this exhibition, the municipality is joining forces with one of the greatest legendary studios in the 7th art: Columbia, to honor the emblematic talents who have marked the history of cinema and lit up the screen. I would like to thank the entire Sony Pictures team. It is also an opportunity to introduce Cannes residents and festival-goers to an exceptional cinematic heritage, by offering this photography tour during the Cannes International Film Festival. The latter rewarded the studio with several “Palme d’Or” notably for the films Le Messager in 1971, La Méprise in 1973, Taxi Driver in 1976 and Let the show begin in 1980.”
David Lisnard, mayor of Cannes
