An award-winning designer at Cannes, Berlin and Locarno. Mélanie Biessy produces “C’est pas moi”, a documentary self-portrait of the director, between images from family archives and barbs towards Carax’s “enemies”. “It’s a little gem, a political, provocative film, which will be released in June” notes Mélanie Biessy. Another major director of French cinema produced by “Scala films”: Arnaud Desplechin (“Kings and Queens”, “How I argued… my sex life”).

A rural thriller

In Cannes, the world of the 7th Art will discover in a few days “Spectators!”, a UFO as well as a vibrant tribute to dark rooms, and to cinema in general. “This is Desplechin’s first documentary. He recounts his journey as a filmmaker, his love of cinema, particularly when he took charge of his high school’s film club. Mathieu Amalric plays his own role. It should be released in the fall“. In 2013, Alain Guiraudie received the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival in the “Un certain regard” section, for “L’Inconnu du lac”.

“Scala Films” accompanies its new feature film, “Miséricorde”, with Catherine Frot. “It’s a rural thriller, set in the Pyrenees, with a forest that is a protagonist in itself. It’s about murder, desire, religion. It’s striking“. At the Cannes Film Festival, the films of Carax and Guiraudie will be screened in the “Cannes Première” selection. That of Desplechin will be revealed in a special screening.
