A man in his twenties was seriously injured following a fight which degenerated outside bars in the Ville-Marie borough of Montreal.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) received a call reporting an injured man in an alley near Maisonneuve Boulevard and Peel Street, around 3:00 a.m. Saturday.

When they arrived on the scene, the police found a man in his twenties, injured by a sharp object in an alley, reported SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The victim was conscious when he was transported to the hospital. “The victim, a 26-year-old man, is in critical but stable condition,” said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the SPVM.

The armed attack allegedly took place after a fight between several individuals degenerated outside a restaurant-bar, according to Officer Chèvrefils.

The suspects fled before police arrived. No arrests have been made at this time.

A perimeter was erected around the scene of the attack to ensure the smooth running of the ongoing investigation.
