the essential
She has an American star name, but it was in Toulouse that Evie Stone took her first steps as an artist. Accomplished musician, Evie (Julie in her civil status) has just released the impeccable “Forever Young”. Portrait

“I’ve been singing since I was 17 – before that it was in the shower,” jokes Evie Stone. “I sang for high school, or whenever I could and I noticed that people liked my voice, I liked entertaining these external opinions.” A kindness that boosts the confidence of the young singer. A first decisive turn took place in 2013: Julie saw Lana Del Rey in concert in Carcassonne and became Evie. “It was captivating,” she remembers. “I wasn’t very sociable, I was in a bubble that I wanted to burst. Suddenly, I needed to assert myself.”

The summer soundtrack?

The talent of Yann Apfel Rosenfeldt, her sound engineer, allows Evie’s songs, like “Sous mes draps” or “Forever Young”, her excellent latest single, to be given the depth and brilliance they deserve. This title, sung in a haunting and warm voice, is reminiscent of the pop of the American icon, who nonchalantly sings about so many gray areas. “Dance, dance, dance, until the sun comes up […] / Until the last song ends.” A hedonistic and dreamy anthem that could be the soundtrack of a sunny summer to keep at bay “the torments of love, lack of self-confidence, health mental” that haunt Evie’s songs.

Evie Stone is in the final stages of recording a first album which will be released in the fall: perfect season for this bittersweet pop, this melancholic and sunny rock at the same time. Perfect season for the emergence of an exciting artist, above all.
