(Ecofin Agency) – At the end of 2023, the Beninese innovation hub Semè City launched a call for applications for a training program dedicated to content creators. The program was designed in partnership with the American organization Future of Film.

The first masterclasses of the Future of Film Africa project led by Semè City, the Beninese innovation hub created by the government, will be launched this May 7. Designed in partnership with the American organization Future of Film, the program aims to train content creators to encourage the emergence of new talents in the creation of stories in all its forms.

A call for applications was launched at the end of 2023 by the two partners. At the end of the selection process, Semè City and Future of Film selected candidates with various types of projects ranging from classic films to the most innovative Web Documentary or even podcasts. The training of successful candidates will start with virtual masterclasses before they begin face-to-face courses in Cotonou.

The program provides that at the end of the training, the best projects will be presented to potential investors who will decide whether to support them or not. Future of Film Africa confirms Semè City’s greater interest in cinema and new creative industries.

In October 2023, the Beninese innovation hub signed an agreement with the audiovisual group Mediawan and TV5 Monde for the creation of a television series of 220 episodes which should be filmed in Cotonou in the coming weeks.
