Met Gala 2024: Rihanna, Blake Lively… They were conspicuous by their absence!

It is undoubtedly the most anticipated fashion event of the year. Like every first Monday in May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is transformed to host the Met Gala. This year, many stars have walked the legendary red carpet and respected the dress code of this new edition: The Garden of Time (Le Jardin du Temps in French, editor’s note). If Zendaya caused a sensation with her two looks during the event, just like Jennifer Lopez in a Schiaparelli outfit and Aya Nakamura in a Balmain dress, other celebrities, considered regulars at the event, were conspicuous by their absence.

In 2021 and 2023, Rihanna made notable appearances at the Met Gala, in the arms of her companion, A$AP Rocky. This year, the singer had once again planned to walk the red carpet and had even teased her look in the columns of the magazine Vogue last April. Unfortunately, the interpreter of Diamonds had to cancel her visit at the last minute because she caught the flu… It was also impossible not to notice for the second year in a row the absence of Blake Lively, nicknamed the queen of the Met Gala, by her fans. Anne Hathaway, Justin and Hailey Bieber also missed this edition, like Taylor Swift, who has a very good reason to be absent, because she is currently in Paris for the rest of her world tour, The Era’s Tour.

Met Gala 2024: was Prince Harry present at the event?

During this edition of the Met Gala, many viewers thought they saw Prince Harry on the red carpet for a second. But this was not the case since it was a double. The man in question was, in fact, seen lifting some of the trains of the stars’ dresses to prevent them from tripping. The Prince Harry lookalike made Internet users laugh on social networks. “Aw, they made Prince Harry work at the Met Gala, good for him,” “I honestly thought for a split second that Prince Harry got himself a new job holding people’s dresses at the Met Gala”, “Prince Harry’s dream comes true!”, “Anyone else think it’s Prince Harry?” can we read for example on X (formerly Twitter).
