“The Forget Tomorrow World Tour”: Justin Timberlake at his best

Justin Timberlake pulled out all the stops for the Bell Center on Friday night, where he stopped his world tour The Forget Tomorrow World Tour.

At the same time, he celebrated his wedding anniversary with actress Jessica Biel, to whom he has been married for 14 years. The latter was also present in the audience.

Accompanied by his “Tennessee Kids”, his 11 musicians – including a brass section – and backing vocalists, the singer revisited his musicography by reviewing his hit songs as well as the essentials Cry Me a River, Summer Love et Can’t Stop the Feelingas well as some of his new pieces, for almost two hours.

It was just after 9 p.m. when the artist appeared on stage to the tunes of Memphis and of No Angels.

About a third of the pieces played during the concert belonged to his most recent album, Everything I Thought It Was. An album that Bell Center spectators took the trouble to learn by heart before their meeting with the singer and actor on Friday evening.

Showman accomplished – whose reputation is really well established – the ex-member of NSYNC has lost none of his qualities as a dancer, being as precise and lively as ever in his movements. A giant screen, almost as large as it is high, extending from left to right on the Canadiens’ ice, added an extra dimension to his performances, during which he is always accompanied by dancers. Desert landscapes, optical effects, “psychedelic”-looking projections and recordings of the show were projected there, sometimes simultaneously.

A sort of rectangular monolith, acting as a mobile screen, on which Justin Timberlake stood at a certain point, appeared at the end of the first third of the concert. This additional scenic element made it possible to vary the projections, displaying 3D images as well as recreating a gigantic basin of water in which the singer was caught.

The American artist appeared to be in great shape, smiling and interacting with people on the floor. Along the way, he even picked up the gift that an admirer had brought him, on which was written a little thought to thank him for stopping in Montreal.

“It’s been such a long time, Montreal! I almost forgot how much fun you guys were,” he told the audience during his first speech.

He then descended into the crowd, performing Playwith some of his dancers and backing singers to reach a secondary stage, where he, among other things, resumed Suit and Tie et Say Something.

A piano-voice version of My Lovewhose vocal flights of the American singer and his backing vocalists – who passed the ball to each other for the highest note – were celebrated by the spectators, while the sequence of titles Selfishin acoustic version, and What Goes Around… Comes Around left no one indifferent. As well as the final segment with Rock Your Body, Sexy Back et Mirrors – certainly a crowd favorite – transformed the Bell Center into karaoke.

Troubles with the law

The 43-year-old singer and actor was recently sentenced to community service, in addition to being fined $500, for drunk driving in the Hamptons last June.

He publicly apologized during his hearing and shared an awareness message on his social media.
