the essential
Marjolaine Fuentes embarks on the publishing adventure, recounting the life of Samuel Adoquei, a world-famous Ghanaian painter who nevertheless started from nothing. With a message to young people: Be an actor in your life!

Marjolaine Fuentes is a jack of all trades. Studies in archeology and anthropology, but a pronounced interest in art, which makes her both a painter, an illustrator and a writer… All while transmitting her passions through teaching. She also has two children who she homeschools.

Today, a new adventure has recently begun for this woman from Lourdais. She launched her publishing house Éditions Aponi. With a work that is close to her heart and on which she has been working for many months… The story of Samuel Adoquei, Ghanaian painter and father-in-law of Julian Casablancas, of the rock group The Strokes, whose The world says he is the mentor.

She deciphers: “By telling her life story, I hope to give mantras to children.” Illustrate the unique journey of this man, born into a poor family in Ghana, who has always been an “actor” in his life, so that children realize the power they have in their own lives. Tell them: “Today, you create your future.”

Starting from nothing, Samuel Adoquei is now world famous

Samuel Adoquei was also a jack of all trades. A footballer, he learned the taste for discipline and effort with this sport. Today, despite starting from nothing, he is a painter and writer, author of bestsellers living in New York…

He has already released “How successful artists study”, advice for artists, of which Marjolaine Fuentes hopes, with “The Incredible Destiny of Samuel Adoquei, painter of the invisible” to offer a version adapted to young people.

She has been working on this work for almost two years. It was unexpected. It was by contacting him on social networks that she formed this link with Samuel Adoquei, whom she was able to meet during his visit to France.

A widely illustrated book

Both agreed on the seeds that could grow with this book, which she voluntarily chose to publish on a noble paper, because it is widely illustrated, with his paintings, her illustrations and numerous photos .

Because Marjolaine Fuentes is also an illustrator. His father was an architect and loved to draw outdoors, inspired by his surroundings. It was at the Fénelon high school in Paris that she learned this “freedom” which guides her today in her choices.

And which leads her to the edition of this book, which is scheduled for release on August 23, 2024 but which is already available for pre-order. The artist behind Angel Fuentes describes it this way: “Prepare to be transported to a world where the impossible becomes possible, where every brushstroke tells a story, and where the beauty of art resides in the hearts of those who dare to dream.”

The Incredible Destiny of Samuel Adoquei, painter of the invisible, Angel Fuentes and Samuel Adoquei, 80 pages, Aponi editions, €13.95.
